Communion + Creed
This Sunday, the 3rd Sunday of the month, will be Communion Sunday. As usual, parents with kids, please remember to pick them up from Kids Ministry immediately after the sermon so they can join in the second half of the service by observing communion and praising God through musical worship.
Also, please note: starting this Communion Sunday, after taking communion and prayer, we will be reading a creed (this Sunday, specifically the Nicene Creed) together as an affirmation of our faith.
Creeds, in short, are summaries (not all-encompassing) of core Christian beliefs (doctrine) that Christians and churches throughout history have used to articulate essential beliefs, defend against heresies (false doctrine), and unite believers.
Here is a longer blog post from The Gospel Coalition on the role and importance of creeds and confessions. And here is an article specifically about the Nicene Creed and its historic origin and significance in the Christian faith.
