Hi, I’m Kevin, and I serve as the deacon for the youth ministry at Mercy Hill. Alongside our leadership team, I partner with parents to help students grow in maturity, spiritual disciplines, and Christ-centered community, with the hope of raising up Christ led disciples who make disciples.
A big reason I care so much about youth ministry is because of the people God used in my own life. From an early age in Ohio, my parents modeled what it looked like to love Jesus. Later, when my family moved to Georgia, with my parents' continued support, along with my youth leaders and close friends, I was challenged and encouraged me to stay rooted in God’s Word. Their investment made a big impact on my walk with Christ and this serves as a motivation for me to serve the youth at Mercy Hill today.
I met my wife, Wendy, at Georgia Tech (Go Jackets!), and work eventually brought us to the Bay Area. We were drawn to Mercy Hill because of the way this church intentionally invests in both its people and the community. In my spare time, you'd likely find me hiking, running, eating, or some combination of the three.

If you had to pick a “life verse,” what would it be and why?
Matthew 22:37-40: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
I aim to make this my driving purpose in life, whether through serving with the youth group, working, or hanging out with friends. I believe it can all be done to love God and love my neighbor.

Name one person who's had a significant influence on you and tell us why.
My dad had a significant influence on my life. He set the initial foundation for what it looks like to be vulnerable in relationship as well as accountable. These elements have since been fundamental to how I interact in all my relationships.
What's one fun fact you could share with us about yourself?
I like to watch various types of martial arts. One of my current favorite martial arts to watch is sumo wrestling.
If you had to pick your favorite spot in the Bay Area, what would it be and why?
My favorite spot in the bay area is the Santa Cruz mountains. There are several trails going up forested canyons in the mountain that I love to go to.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
When I was a kid I initially wanted to make video games and later pivoted to wanting to be a doctor. Now I work on a medical device that uses near augmented reality, so I kind of combined both of those jobs + engineering in the end.
Take Your Next Step . . .
Wherever you're at in your journey with Jesus, it would be our joy to help you take the next step!
