I was born and raised in Shanghai, China. After finishing my undergraduate studies, I came to the U.S. for graduate school in the mid-1980's. Raised as an atheist, educated with communist doctrine, I had never heard of the Gospel prior to my journey to the U.S. Upon my arrival, I was reached by many Christians with the Gospel. I'm very thankful for their love, endurance, and grace not to give up on me, as I was arrogant and argumentative. It is God who opened my eyes.
In 1997, our family moved to the Bay Area and started attending Mercy Hill. My husband Chris and I raised our two girls here. Even when we were away in China for 6 1/2 years, Mercy Hill was our home church.
My passion is to bring the Good News to those who have no opportunity to hear, through Bible study and in the context of relationships.

If you had to pick a “life verse,” what would it be and why?
Isaiah 61:3b: "They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor." My existence is to display His goodness to the world. More of Him, less of me.
Name one person who's had a significant influence on you and tell us why.
I'm very grateful for so many people who cultivated me to form me into who I am. Most influential is Jesus. It sounds cliche, but it is an undeniable fact. His life on earth, His wisdom, His teaching, His humanity, His surrender in obedience to go to the Cross, and His resurrection changed my life forever.
What's one fun fact you could share with us about yourself?
I love the young adults group in our church. They make me marvel at God's goodness and faithfulness through the generations.
If you had to pick your favorite spot in the Bay Area, what would it be and why?

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
