Welcome!

Good morning Mercy Hill and happy Sunday to you!  If you're new with us, we just wanted to extend a special welcome to you.  Feel free to fill out a Connection Card to get more info or prayer.  We're glad to have you with us!

If you're tuning in for the Live Stream, we'd encourage everyone to please consider taking a moment to put a comment in the chat box there.  Let us know who you are and maybe where you're tuning in from.  Say hi.  We miss you!  And as we get into the message, feel free to share other Scriptures that come to mind, prayer requests that you have, questions that you'd like answered, etc.  It would be great to interact even in this limited format.

Call to Worship

Because of Your Love

Jesus you endured my pain
Savior you bore all my shame
All because of your love

Maker of the universe
Broken for the sins of the earth
All because of your love

Because of your cross my debt is paid
Because of your blood my sins are washed away
Now all of my life, I freely give
Because of your love,
Because of your love I live

Innocent and holy king
You died to set the captive free
All because of your love

Lord you gave your life for me
I will give my life to you
All because of your love

You did it for me, you did it for love
It’s your victory, Jesus you are enough

Goodness of God

I love You Lord
Oh Your mercy never fails me
All my days
I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
I will sing of the goodness of God

All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God

I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In darkest nights
You are close like no other
I’ve known You as a father
I’ve known You as a friend
I have lived in the goodness of God

Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now,
I give You everything
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me

TOday's Announcements

Here are a few critical announcements to keep in mind:

  • Sunday Prayer Walk: We will be gathering after service next Sunday 1/24 at 1 PM to do a prayer walk in the local neighborhood! So grab lunch after service, and consider joining us to pray for our neighboring community, as we hope to have the opportunity to share the gospel with those who are open and ready to engage. We'll have a brief time before the prayer walk to discuss what to pray for, so we invite anyone regardless of experience to join and learn. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Chris Keener at
  • Communion Elements: We will be taking communion together immediately following the sermon. We have prepackaged elements at the Welcome Table.  If you haven't already picked them up, feel free to do so now. For those joining virtually, please plan to have those items ready as well.
  • Mercy Hill Kids Online Worship: Mercy Hill Kids is meeting at 11:45 am (both Preschool and Elementary class). Go here to read more and to find a link to sign in!
  • All Church Prayer: The All Church Prayer meeting will be held online tonight beginning at 6:00pm.  At Mercy Hill we believe that prayer is the start of everything good.  Would you make a priority of seeking God together with us?!  Find information to connect to the with us on Zoom here.
  • Welcoming into Covenant Membership: This morning please join us in welcoming in four new Covenant Members: Manzhen Chen, Bob and Becky Durstenfeld, and Jolie Huang!  Covenant membership at Mercy Hill is a way of going all in with us as we commit to “be the body” here and now together (1 Cor 12:27). It’s a way of formalizing your commitment to this church—its members, leaders, mission, and ministries. It’s a promise we make to one another—that we will participate meaningfully in this local assembly as we pursue God’s presence, grow together as His people, and live for His purpose in the world.  Click here to learn more!
  • Home Groups: Many of our Home Groups have moved to a hybrid (in-person + virtual) format.  Whatever your comfort level with meeting, you're welcome to come check one out.  Find one to join here.  You are not alone!
  • COVID-19 SOS Form: If you or anyone you know needs help during this challenging time, we'd love to do what we can!  Fill out the form here.

Call to Response

1.  Sing:

Remembrance

I take the bread of life
Broken for all my sin
Your body crucified
To make me whole again

I will recall the cup
Poured out in sacrifice
To trade this sinner's end
For Your new covenant

Hallelujah I'll live my life in remembrance
Hallelujah Your promise I won't forget

I'll walk salvation's road
With fear and trembling
Your way borne as my own
As Christ is formed in me

If ever I should lose my way
If ever I deny Your grace
Remind me of the price You paid
Hallelujah I'll live in remembrance

You've been so, so good to me
You've been so, so good to me
Oh, to think where I would be
If not for You If not for You

As far as heights reach from the depths
As far as east is from the west
So far Your grace has carried me

Until I see You face to face
Until at last I've won my race
Remind me You're not finished yet

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah I'll live in remembrance

You Are My All in All

You are my strength when I am weak,
You are the treasure that I seek,
You are my all in all.
Seeking You as a precious jewel,
Lord to give up I'd be a fool,
You are my all in all.

Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is Your name!
Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is Your name!

Taking my sin, my cross, my shame,
Rising again I bless Your name,
You are my all in all.
When I fall down You pick me up,
When I am dry You fill my cup,
You are my all in all.

Mercy Hill Kids

While difficult, this pandemic does create a wonderful chance for parents to step towards their God-given call as chief disciplers of their kids.  We know this may feel overwhelming and that is why we want to help!  Parents of Mercy Hill children should have already received an email from the Director of Mercy Hill Kids, Christina Lugo, regarding ways you can utilize the Gospel Project curriculum at home.  This information has also been included on our blog here.  Beyond this, each Sunday, we are also looking to host an online worship gathering for our kids.  You can check here for more details.  We'd love to have you join us!

If you have any questions or need help in any way, don't hesitate to reach out to Christina at

Call to Worship

Great Are You Lord

You give life, You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope, You restore
Every heart that is broken
Great are You, Lord

It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise, we pour out our praise
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only

All the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing
Great are You, Lord

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest trial and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God, in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save

Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin, on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again!

And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost it's grip on me
For I am His, and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power or Christ in me
From life's first cry, to final death
Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, on scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I stand

1.  Sing:

I Will Wait For You (Psalm 130)

Out of the depths I cry to You
In darkest places I will call
Incline Your ear to me anew
And hear my cry for mercy, Lord

Were You to count my sinful ways
How could I come before Your throne
Yet full forgiveness meets my gaze
I stand redeemed by grace alone

I will wait for You
I will wait for You
On Your Word, I will rely
I will wait for You
Surely wait for You
Till my soul is satisfied

So put your hope in God alone
Take courage in His power to save
Completely and forever won
By Christ emerging from the grave

I will wait for You
I will wait for You
Through the storm and through the night
I will wait for You
Surely wait for You
For Your love is my delight

Call to Worship

Anthem

So many reasons - too many to count
To say that I love You - to worship You now
Your love is perfect - and Your heart is kind
I’m Yours forever - forever You’re mine

Jesus, the anthem of my heart
Jesus the anchor of my soul
I’m overwhelmed by all You are
Oh, how I love You

You call me beloved - and You call me friend
Your grace says I’m worthy - You welcome me in
Now all that I long for - and all that I need
Is to be in Your presence - Forever I fall at Your feet

Faithful to the end - God You are always good
Where do I begin - There’s so many reasons to love You
Your promise never breaks - Your beauty never fades
What else can I say
There’s so many reasons to love you

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou has been Thou forever wilt be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide.
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside.

a generation that seeks
Who seeks Your face, Oh God of Jacob
Oh God let us be

Who seeks Your face, Oh God of Jacob
