Call to Worship

Lion and the Lamb

He's coming on the clouds
Kings and kingdoms will bow down
Every chain will break
As broken hearts declare His praise
For who can stop the Lord almighty?

Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah
He's roaring with power and fighting our battles
Every knee will bow before Him
Our God is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain
For the sins of the world, His blood breaks the chains
Every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Every knee will bow before Him

So open up the gates
Make way before the King of Kings
The God who comes to save
Is here to set the captives free
For who can stop the Lord almighty?

Who can stop the Lord almighty?
Who can stop the Lord almighty?

TOday's Announcements

Here are a few critical announcements to keep in mind:

  • Sunday Service - Inside Going Forward!  We are happy to announce that we will now be holding our services inside the school building!  This is in preparation for the colder, rainier weather coming our way.  As usual, we will be following all necessary federal, state, and county guidelines.  Right now, this means we all will need to be wearing masks inside (vaccinated or not).  In light of a recent parent survey, it seems most would be more comfortable if Mercy Hill Kids ministry still held class outside whenever possible (due to concerns regarding COVID-19).  Therefore, on these first and third Sundays, while the adults will be inside the sanctuary, the kids will be meeting outside in the school's pavilion area.  Make sure your children dress appropriately.  If weather or smoke look to be an issue, you can expect us to pivot accordingly and the Mercy Hill Kids Director, Christina Lugo, will be updating families of any necessary changes.  You can always keep your kids inside with you if that is what you prefer.  We hope you can join us!  If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at .
  • Mercy Hill Women's Fall Bible Study: Ladies, we hope you'll be able to join the Mercy Hill Women's Ministry for a weekly study on gospel-centered community.  It will focus on how, when the gospel seizes our hearts, it enables us to share our lives, to participate together in God's merciful kindness, and to reflect Jesus to a watching world.  We'll meet weekly from early October to early December, and we'll use the book The Gospel-Centered Community as a discussion guide.  No prep work is required other than to obtain a copy of the book found here. We have two options for engagement.  One group will meet Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm beginning October 5th (starting on Zoom with potential for meeting in person if people are interested).  Another group will meet Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm beginning October 6th (Zoom only).  You can register to join whichever group works best for you here.  Please do so ASAP!  We believe this is a critical time to examine and think about community, and we hope it prepares us well to be a strong community with the start of the 2022 new year! If you have any questions, please contact Julie Coleman at
  • Mercy Hill Youth Hangout - DATE CHANGE: The Mercy Hill Youth Hangout is usually on second Sundays of the month but it will be pushed back to Sunday, October 31st this month.  Mark your calendar . . . and consider joining us in a costume!  For more info, head here.
  • Mercy Hill Kids Worship - IN-PERSON TODAY!: We now plan to have in-person instruction for Preschool and Elementary children (2.5 years thru 5th grade) on the FIRST + THIRD Sundays of the month.  (Note: We will NOT have the online zoom class on these Family Service Sundays.)  For more information, please contact Christina Lugo at  .
  • All Church Prayer - TONIGHT: This Sunday's All Church Prayer meeting will be hosted in-person at the Wilson Residence tonight from 6:00-7:30pm.  Please go here for more info.  If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at  .
  • Walk the Sacred Path: We just went live with a new page on our website devoted to . . . well . . . devotions!  The devotional life (e.g. reading our Bibles, prayer, etc.) is as critical to our spiritual well-being as it is confusing.  Sometimes it's hard to know where to start and what to do.  That's why we developed what we call the "Sacred Path."  Check it out and let us know what you think! Some highlights: There's a new booklet outlining this path with questions for reflection/discussion; we give recommendations on Bibles to purchase, plans to use, etc.; don't miss the Sacred Path Worksheet or the 3x3 Bible Reading Plan.  And, as always, we're here to help.  Hit us up at the email below.  There is nothing more important than learning to be alone with God!  If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at .
  • Kids Club Outreach: We wanted to give you a quick update on our ministry to the students of Allen at Steinbeck Elementary through Kids Club.  The school is not ready to have volunteers yet as they are trying to focus solely on the students right now.  There will be an update on COVID regulations coming in November. We ask for your prayers that Kids Club would be allowed on campus soon and we would love to hear if any of you might be interested in volunteering whenever things open up.  Please contact Karen Walton at   if you have any questions or wish to express your interest.
  • Mercy Hill Men's Bible Study - A Journey through John 6: Men of Mercy Hill, we've already kicked off this study, but you can join in anytime! Paul Walton, from the Mercy Hill Men's team, is going to be leading a 7-week study through a single (and amazing!) chapter in John's gospel (ch. 6). The plan is to meet at the Walton Residence at 9:00am on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month beginning in September (we'll adjust for weather/holidays/etc. as needed). The meeting will be kept to around one hour and will give time for study, group discussion, and personal sharing. To learn more and sign up, click here. If you have any questions, please email Paul Walton at   .
  • Home Groups: Many of our Home Groups have moved to a hybrid (in-person + virtual) format.  Whatever your comfort level with meeting, you're welcome to come check one out.  Find one to join here.  You are not alone!

Call to Response

1.  Sing:

Build My Life

Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for you

Jesus a name above every other name
Jesus the only one that could ever save
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for you
We live for you

Holy there is no one like you
There is none beside you
Open up my eyes in wonder
Show me who you are
And fill me with your heart
And lead me in your love
to those around me

I will build my life, upon your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust, in you alone
And I will not be shaken

Sovereign Over Us

There is strength within the sorrow
There is Beauty in our tears
And you meet us in our mourning
With a love that cast out fears.

You are working in our waiting
Sanctifying us
And beyond our understanding
Your teaching us to trust

Your plans are still to prosper
You have not forgotten us
You're with us in the fire and the flood You're Faithful forever
Perfect in love
You are Sovereign Over us

You are wisdom unimagined,
Who could understand your ways
Reigning high above the heavens,
Reaching down in endless grace

Youʼre the Lifter of the lowly,
Compassionate and kind
You surround and You uphold me,
And your promises are my delight

Even what the enemy means for evil
You turn it for our good
You Turn it for our good and for your glory

Even in the valley you are faithful
You're working for our good
You're working for our good and for your glory

Mercy Hill Kids

While difficult, this pandemic does create a wonderful chance for parents to step towards their God-given call as chief disciplers of their kids.  We know this may feel overwhelming and that is why we want to help!  Parents of Mercy Hill children should have already received an email from the Director of Mercy Hill Kids, Christina Lugo, regarding ways you can utilize the Gospel Project curriculum at home.  This information has also been included on our blog here.  Beyond this, every Sunday we have something for your kids, either in-person or online.  You can check here for more details.  We'd love to have you join us!

If you have any questions or need help in any way, don't hesitate to reach out to Christina at

Have a Wonderful Week!
