Call to Worship

Power to Redeem

You take what is
And you make it beautiful
When love floods in,
We're restored forever more

With breath that brings the dead to life,
With words that pierce the dark with light
Only by the blood are we set free.
With mercy strong to carry shame
and nail it to a tree
You alone hold the power to redeem.

No guilt competes
with innocence crucified.
No grave can hold what your grace has justified.
Rejoice oh child of God
Lift your eyes to see
With every morning light,
Again we are redeemed

TOday's Announcements

Here are a few critical announcements to keep in mind:

  • Mercy Hill Ladies Zoom Scavenger Hunt Social: We would love for any ladies at Mercy Hill to join us over Zoom Saturday, September 25th at 3:00pm for our next large-group social. We will be doing a scavenger hunt! No prep work needed. Just be ready to find items in your home as a part of the scavenger hunt. We hope this will be a fun time to see everyone's faces again and get to know each other more through the hunt! For more information and to RSVP, go hereIf you have any questions, please contact Julie Coleman at
  • Acts 29 Global Prayer Meeting: Mercy Hill Church is a part of the Acts 29 Church Planting Network.  Every quarter, we come together to pray with brothers and sisters around the world at our Global Prayer Meeting.  When someone attends an Acts 29 church, they are a part of a much larger story of church planting and the spreading of the gospel around the world.  Attending these Global Prayer Meetings would be a great way for you to become more aware of this reality and feel as though you are connected to this global mission and vision. The next Global Prayer Meeting will be on September 21st at 12:00pm PT. To join in, please register in advance for this event by clicking here.
  • Family Service Sunday - NEXT WEEK: We now plan to have in-person instruction for Preschool and Elementary children (2.5 years thru 5th grade) on the FIRST + THIRD Sundays of the month. That means next week, September 19th, we encourage all of our families to once again gather with us to worship in person.  Mark your calendars! (Note: We will NOT have the online zoom class on these Family Service Sundays.) For more information, please contact Christina Lugo at   .
  • Mercy Hill Men's Bible Study - A Journey through John 6: Men of Mercy Hill, we've already kicked off this study, but you can join in anytime! Paul Walton, from the Mercy Hill Men's team, is going to be leading a 7-week study through a single (and amazing!) chapter in John's gospel (ch. 6). The plan is to meet at the Walton Residence at 9:00am on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month beginning in September (we'll adjust for weather/holidays/etc. as needed). The meeting will be kept to around one hour and will give time for study, group discussion, and personal sharing. To learn more and sign up, click here. If you have any questions, please email Paul Walton at   .
  • Mercy Hill Kids Online Worship: Mercy Hill Kids is meeting today at 11:45am (both Preschool and Elementary class).  Go here to read more and to find a link to sign in!  For more information, please contact Christina Lugo at   .
  • Mercy Hill Youth Hangout: All Mercy Hill Youth (6th thru 12th grade) are invited to join us after service TODAY at 12:30pm (note the time change).  We'll have time for fellowship, prayer, and getting in God's Word.  And we even plan to provide some pizza!  We'll meet at the picnic tables in the pavilion around the back of Allen at Steinbeck Elementary where we gather for Sunday Service.  See ya there!  If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at
  • Home Groups: Many of our Home Groups have moved to a hybrid (in-person + virtual) format.  Whatever your comfort level with meeting, you're welcome to come check one out.  Find one to join here.  You are not alone!

Call to Response

1.  Sing:

Sweetly Broken

To the cross I look, to the cross I cling
Of it's suffering I do drink, of it's work I do sing
For on it my Savior, both bruised and crushed
Showed that God is love and God is just

At the cross You beckon me
You draw me gently to my knees, and I am
Lost for words, so lost in love, I'm
sweetly broken,
wholly surrendered

What a priceless gift, undeserved life
Have I been given through Christ crucified
You've called me out of death, You've called me into life
And I was under Your wrath,
now through the cross I'm reconciled

How Firm a Foundation

How firm a foundation, you saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
What more can He say than to you He has said,
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

Fear not, I am with you, O be not dismayed,
For I am your God, and will still give you aid;
I'll strengthen you, help you and cause you to stand,
Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.

So set them down
Set your feet on down today.
There's solid ground
In the foundation Jesus laid . . .
For us.

When through the deep waters I call you to go,
The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
For I will be with you, your troubles to bless,
And sanctify to you your deepest distress.

When through fiery trials your pathway shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient shall be your supply;
The flame shall not hurt you; I only design
Your dross to consume, and your gold to refine.

The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I'll never, no never, no never forsake!

Goodness of God

I love You Lord
Oh Your mercy never fails me
All my days
I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
I will sing of the goodness of God

All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God

I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In darkest nights
You are close like no other
I’ve known You as a father
I’ve known You as a friend
I have lived in the goodness of God

Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now, I give You everything
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me

Mercy Hill Kids

While difficult, this pandemic does create a wonderful chance for parents to step towards their God-given call as chief disciplers of their kids.  We know this may feel overwhelming and that is why we want to help!  Parents of Mercy Hill children should have already received an email from the Director of Mercy Hill Kids, Christina Lugo, regarding ways you can utilize the Gospel Project curriculum at home.  This information has also been included on our blog here.  Beyond this, every Sunday we have something for your kids, either in-person or online.  You can check here for more details.  We'd love to have you join us!

If you have any questions or need help in any way, don't hesitate to reach out to Christina at

Have a Wonderful Week!
